Fond Farewell to Our Wonderful Secretaries, Mrs Burke and Mrs Deery

18th Jun 2025

This month marks the end of an era at St Kevin’s Primary School as we say a heartfelt farewell to our two beloved school secretaries, Mrs Burke and Mrs Deery, who are both retiring after years of exceptional service.

Mrs Burke has been the heart of our school office for an incredible 38 years, and Mrs Deery has been a vital part of life at St Kevin’s for the past 18 years. Together, they have supported thousands of pupils, comforted countless parents, and kept the entire school ticking over with a quiet dedication that often went unseen—but was never unappreciated.

From grazed knees and forgotten lunchboxes to last-minute photocopying and phone calls to home, there was no task too big or too small. Their warm welcomes, calm reassurances, and endless patience helped generations of children feel safe and cared for. They have both been a constant, reassuring presence in the busy heart of our school.

Mrs Burke’s unmistakable high heels clicking down the corridor will be deeply missed—her signature sound was as much a part of St Kevin’s as the school building itself! Her humour and wisdom are truly irreplaceable.

Mrs Deery, always a calm and friendly face behind the desk, is now off to begin her well-earned retirement in beautiful France. While we are thrilled for her new adventure, we can’t help but feel the quiet space she’ll leave behind here in the school office.

To say they’ll be missed doesn’t begin to cover it. Their contribution to school life goes beyond words, and their absence will be felt by staff, pupils and parents alike. We send them off with love, gratitude, and every good wish for this next chapter.

Thank you, Mrs Burke and Mrs Deery. St Kevin’s won’t be the same without you.
